from forge to film
March 2019 | with Chevrolet
As a movie-obsessed kid growing up, Atlanta-native Kenneth Spivey was inspired to replicate the props he saw on the silver screen. This unyielding passion would eventually grow into his dream career. Today, Spivey is still constructing film props, but he’s matured from cardboard monsters and tinfoil swords to steel, leather, and gemstones. Spivey traveled the country for years in order to learn blacksmithing, leather working and many other vocations. Now, his typical day consists of forging and shaping metal on the anvil and cutting and sewing leather to create the amazing prop swords and body armor you see on the big screen.
